The second appointment of Live Collection is a lecture-concert on the theme of The Affections. Mario Calisi on piano and Lorenzo Fazzini on flute will perform pieces by Franz Benda, Johann Nepomuk Hummel and Raffaele Galli. This will be followed by a special tour that will lead the public to discover artworks and stories related to the chosen theme.
Mario Calisi
Pianist, composer, conductor. He is a musician, scholar and teacher acknowledged by international critics. Since 2009, he has been teaching at the Conservatorio Statale di Musica ‘Giuseppe Verdi’ in Milan. He has taught ‘Studio della strumentazione applicata alla partitura’ in the Master of Musicology Degree Course at the University of Milan. Among his many honours, he was awarded the title ‘Grand Officier de l’Ordre Mondiale de la Science Musicale’ in Geneva in 1994. He has performed in Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Austria, Portugal, Poland, Lichtenstein, Bulgaria, Brazil and Croatia, where he has released concert recordings for radio and television. W. Stettler, musicologist and music critic, described him as an “eclectic, profound, coherent musician… Mario Calisi, a diamond-sounding pianist, fascinates and enraptures even the most demanding audience… His sense of metrics and adherence to tempi recalls Glen Gould in his charm.”
Lorenzo Fazzini
Born in Pavia in 1995, he graduated with top marks and honours from the Conservatorio ‘Antonio Vivaldi’ in Alessandria, in the class of Stefano Parrino. He continued his studies with Roberto Issoglio, graduating with top marks in chamber music. He won First Prize in the Soloist category at the 3rd International Competition City of Scandicci (FI), Second Prize at the 1st International Competition City of Villorba (TV) and Second Prize at the 2nd International Music Competition Malopolska (PL). He began his concert activity as a soloist, soloist with orchestra, in duo, trio and in various chamber music ensembles. He has performed with, among others, Peter-Lukas Graf, Bruno Canino, Daria Masiero, Roberto Sérvile, Jean-Claude Guidarini, Luigi Maio and Joohee Shin. He has collaborated with numerous conductors, including M. Alibrando, F.I. Ciampa, G. de Lorenzo, G. Emilsson, A.R. Casas and S. Pasini. He has given concerts in Italy, France, Switzerland and China, collaborating with the European Philharmonic Orchestra, Castel Monastero, ‘Le Altre Note’ – Valtellina Festival, Collegiata in Bellinzona, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Toulouse and Bouc-Bel-Air Cathedral, Teatro Fraschini and RAI television studios in Rome. He holds the position of first flute in the Orchestra Filarmonica Campana.
