Bound in brown goatskin tooled in gold with blind lines, to a design of four frames or borders; in the centre panel: corner curls and an arabesque with open and solid fleurons; on the upper cover: “DANTE ALIGIERI”; on the lower cover: a shield with the arms of the Tiepolo family of Venice. Traces of four pairs of ties. Turn-ins: blind tooled with a line. Sewn on three supports, laced in, showing as raised band on the spine, tooled in gold with a line; the raised bands alternate with four false bands, with gold-tooled dashes. Eight compartments, tooled in blind with two strips of a leafy roll or possibly a pallet. Yellow endbands, single with a bead; cores cut off. Gilt and gauffered edges. White paper paste-downs and free white paper endleaves. With bookplates of: H.
