The Experience of Art
Giorgina Bertolino talks about Felice Casorati and Alfredo Casella
22.06.2023, 06:00 PM - 07:30 PM
On 22nd June 2023, from 6pm to 7.30pm, the art historian and curator Giorgina Bertolino will present the core of Felice Casorati’s paintings from the Cerruti Collection to the public. The relationship between the artist, an eminent figure of Italian art in the first half of the twentieth century, and the Turin composer Alfredo Casella will also be examined. The heart of the discussion will be the large tempera Mattino (Colazione), c. 1919-1920, which was owned by the musician before entering the Cerruti Collection.
The meeting will be accompanied by six compositions for piano by Casella belonging to the “pictorial musical” cycle entitled …À la manière de… The compositions, performed for the occasion by maestro Mario Calisi, offered Casella many thematic and aesthetic ideas reworked later in the Concerto Romano for organ, timpani, brass and strings op. 43 of 1926 dedicated to Casorati.
