The Cerruti Collection, which opened to the public in May 2019, is a private collection of the highest calibre, comprising almost three hundred works of painting and sculpture, precious carpets, antique books, fine bindings and furniture by famous cabinet-makers ranging from the Middle Ages to the contemporary.
The collection, which began in the mid-1960s, includes masterpieces by Bernardo Daddi, Pontormo, Renoir, Modigliani, Kandinsky, Klee, Boccioni, Balla, de Chirico, Magritte, Bacon, Burri, Warhol, De Dominicis and Paolini, among others, and is the fruit of the passion and artistic sensitivity of Francesco Federico Cerruti (Genoa, 1922 - Turin, 2015), an exemplary entrepreneur and collector.
The Castello di Rivoli Museo d'Arte Contemporanea, by virtue of an agreement signed in July 2017 with the Fondazione Francesco Federico Cerruti per l'Arte, the owner of the works, is the first contemporary art museum that, thanks to its multifaceted and multifaceted collection, builds a dialogue bridge between the present and the past. The intention is to create a new model of museum, in which the art of the past is observed from contemporary perspectives, giving rise to a vital exchange between collections, artists of today and masterpieces of the past.
