Collection

From the late 1960s until 2014, Francesco Federico Cerruti discreetly and carefully assembled a collection of around a thousand works spanning the Middle Ages to contemporary art, drawing on his extensive knowledge. Precious gold backgrounds and masterpieces of sacred painting by masters such as Agnolo Gaddi and Sassetta are accompanied by Renaissance paintings by Dosso Dossi and Pontormo. Modern works range from Guercino to Pompeo Batoni, Giuseppe Pellizza da Volpedo, Giacomo Balla and Felice Casorati to Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. The second half of the 20th century is also represented by artists such as Francis Bacon, Andy Warhol and Giulio Paolini. The collection also includes fine furnishings and carpets, as well as an extensive collection of books, incunabula and rare bindings.
