Provenance
This Paris binding with the French royal arms was made in 1579-80. The only surviving brother of Henri III, King of France, was François, duc d’Anjou. The Duchy of Anjou was given to François, duc d’Alençon, at the Treaty of Beaulieu near Loches (6 May 1576). François died on 10 June 1584.1
