This binding was made in Paris by Roger Devauchelle around 1967. Devauchelle (1915-93) was apprenticed at the age of twelve to Giroux in Amiens. He was a binder, finisher and edge-gilder. In 1946 he set up his own atelier in Paris producing both classical and modern bindings. His son, Alain, worked with him from 1965 and took over the atelier in 1990. Roger Devauchelle wrote several books on bookbinding.¹
