Bound in brown calf, tooled in gold with blind lines to a panel design, with solid and hatched tools; fleurons, angel’s heads, knot and lotus tools, arabesque ornamental tools, and intersecting lines. Edges of boards and turn-ins: tooled in blind with lines. Sewn on six split alum-tawed supports, laced in, showing as six raised bands on the spine, tooled in blind with a line; two kettle-stitch bands, tooled in gold with dashes. Nine compartments, tooled in gold with roundels (top and tail compartments), and alternating small leaf tools and small flowers. Headcaps: tooled in blind with dashes. Blue and pink silk endbands, single with a bead; cores cut off. Gilt and gauffered edges. White paper paste-downs and two free paper endleaves. On the title page a stamp in black ink with: “h [or K] de Marne”; on the paste-down a brown leather oval with in gold: “E M”. 175 unnumbered leaves. Printed in black and red; engraved borders throughout.
